Cres Campsite - the most innovative European campsite in 2007 Print E-mail

ImageThis year at the tourist fair in Stuttgart, Germany’s highest-circulation camping guide ADAC Camping Caravanning introduced the winners of the awards for 2008 within a gala dinner.

Campsite Slatina on Cres Island won the new product innovation award for their dog accommodation program.

ADAC presents the award to camps offering, in addition to the usual camp offer, some special solutions, innovative programs, attractions or future concepts, and the care provided to pets and their owners within the Cres Island camp was recognized by ADAC as an important and innovative program.

Camp Slatina on the Island of Cres is the only campsite in Croatia awarded in this segment, and the reason why it won the award is the fact that it successfully implemented and applied a new product last year – the ‘’Camping Cum Cane’’ project, also known as the ‘’Dogs Project – New Infrastructure and Rules for Dog Owners’’.

The concept behind the innovative project focuses on the harmony between the dog-owning guests and those without pets by developing a dog-keeping program within camps. The program provides maximum comfort for both dog owners, guests without pets, and dogs themselves.

In addition to a special infrastructure, rules have been laid for dog owners, enabling an undisturbed holiday in the camp for guests with or without dogs. The rules provide both guests and dogs with a more pleasant stay and, according to them, all dogs registered in the camp must wear camp id tags and be leashed on roads, paths, the beach and camping plots; swimming with dogs is only allowed in the zones provided for such purpose; separate places are provided for dogs to relieve themselves; nighttime quiet from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. applies to dogs as well, etc.

In addition to Cres’s Camp Slatina, the ADAC award was presented to camps in The Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Austria.

Zaton Campsite among Europe’s top 30 Print E-mail

ImageCampsite Zaton near Zadar has recently been pronounced one of the best 30 camps in Europe.

The rating was made by the leading European auto & camping club – the German ADAC – whose representatives included Camp Zaton in the Leading Campings of Europe club, comprising 30 highest-quality European camps.

Operating within the Zadar-based company Turisthotel, Camp Zaton confirmed its quality by wining ADAC’s popular red sing called  Superplatz this year.

The camp has ensured the sign for highest-quality camps awarded by ADAC for 2008 as well, and an additional acknowledgement of quality is the announced hosting of the  annual meeting of the European Camping Association(EFCO) to be held in Zaton in September of this year.

However, these are not the only acknowledgements it has received: in 2006, it was presented with the Best Camp of the Year  in Croatia award by the Confederazione Italiana Campeggiatori  and the Dutch camping guide ANWB, whose representatives presented Camp Zaton with the same award in 2005, and it has also received some awards in earlier years.

New Croatia Camping Project - The Top Camping Pool Print E-mail

ImageSome camping news are comming from Croatian Camping Union this month -  this is what they say in their recent press release:

Given that the tourist market is over saturated with middle of the road offers, or rather that it is difficult to find something “special” in that segment, Croatia has recently  acquired yet another tourism brand. In question is the new  camping venture called the Top Camping Pool that has recently seen the nine best Croatian camps join forces.

The criteria for entry into this association of elite camps are quite rigorous, the reason it currently only pools nine camps located in Istra, Dalmatia and the Kvarner area, these being the Zaton Camp in Nin, the Nevio Camp in Orebic, the Poljana Camp on the island of Mali Lošinj, the Valalta Camp in Rovinj, the Bijela uvala Camp of the Porec based Plava laguna Company and the four camps in Umag operating within the Istraturist Company.

The nine cited camps have met all of the set criteria such as at least 20 of 25 possible points awarded to camps by the German automotive club ADAC. Also there is the obligatory yellow or red ADAC plaque awarded to camps as a designation of particular quality, and at least a four star rating based on the official camp categorisation system in Croatia. A very important criteria for embership in the club of the best is a new operational approach based on quality and customer satisfaction.

The Top Camping Pool project was conceived by the Croatian umbrella camping organisation, the Croatia Camping Union, with the aim of the even better recognisability of top Croatian camps.

Let's hope this new project will bring more camping oportunities in Croatia...
